Otome Game Review: Pirates In Love

Well, I already mentioned this game in my last blog post, but since this is a review, I'll go into deeper details. Anyway, this game is for not for all Apple products. It doesn't work on the iPad or iPhone 3G/3GS.  It's designed for iPhone 4. HOWEVER, iPod touch works too...slightly. There is a lot of crashing going on, so don't get this game on your iTouch unless you have a lot of patience. Orz The app itself is free, but in order to play a guy's route, you have to pay 3.99. D: Oh well. On to the review!

The Story:
In Pirates In Love, you play as a regular girl working in a bar. One day, two (or was it four) rowdy men confront you and demand to get some "booze" or...alcoholic drinks. Anyway, you try to tell them that the bar isn't opened yet, but they refuse to listen. So, in furious anger you kick them in the baby making factories. The men start to grow impatient and try to attack you. You are saved by two other men. One of them tells you to run, so you do. At first, you thought you were safe, but then you see the rowdy men looking for you. Desperate, you hide in a random barrel, and get loaded onto a ship accidentally. This is when you meet the pirate crew...and the two men who rescued you earlier. They call themselves "Sirius". At first, they are thinking of killing you because you are a woman, but the Captain decides to keep you as a member of the ship. THUS, your story begins...

The Gameplay:
It's similar to Heian Love. You choose a guy and you try to get him to fall in love with you. However, there are some differences. For example, there are only two endings: a happy one and a super happy one. Also, there aren't any vampire sparkles to indicate that you have chosen the right answer. Another thing is...you get three choices. This makes the gameplay a little difficult because you just can't choose the "other one" if you replay the game to get a different ending.

The Characters:
The Heroine/You: OMGSTARRYSKYTSUKIKOCLONE. YEAH. SHE HAS NO EYES!!! But...in a less(?) creepy way. Most of the CGs are in your point of view, so the only description of the heroine I have is light brown hair that is medium length(?). I'm not sure exactly. Oh, and she wears pants. HELL YEAH. I don't think I've seen heroines in pants before. It's usually a skirt, dress, or kimono. Haha. Can't say much about her because you can make her however you want.

Russell: HE IS A TSUNDERE. A BIG FAT TSUNDERE. I'm not kidding. In the beginning, he's such a jerk that I wanted to punch him in the face for being so mean. However, like all tsunderes, he has a dere side that I like...a lot. LOL. I think he was the first character that caught my eye. Haha. He has two swords (like Akira) and is always like "I will protect you!" (like Akira)  I swear he's like some tsundere pirate version of Akira. I guess you can say he's my favorite character. ;D

Nathan: Usually quiet, but whenever he talks to the heroine/you, it's most likely an insult. (.____.)
He's the chef and gunner of the ship. His weapon is this sickle that is attached to a chain. I forgot what you call it. OH and he wears a bandana (not banana). When he takes off that bandana...OMFG SO SEXY!!! LOL. I'm not kidding. I love his route the best. It's so sweet. It made me go all like MOE MOE DOKI DOKI MOFU MOFU. XD

Eduardo: I played his route. I was really meh about him. Like for realz. He can be sexy and romantic and all, but not all of the time. He was mostly a jerka$$. I'm not even kidding. I guess the producers really meant it when they said that he was a "S". But DAYUM. HIS CGS ARE SKSJAKJDAJDS. Unfortunately, I don't think I like him as much as Russell and Nathan. He's third on my list though. Haha.

Christopher: The African guy of the crew. He's a doctor and can fight without a weapon. I'm not surprised. I mean, he probably knows where all the pressure points are and stuff. Haha. He's nice to the heroine/you. Yup. Your typical nice guy. I'm not planning to play his route because he doesn't really interest me...

Thomas: CUTE CUTE CUTE. LOL. The "shota" of the crew. He gets REALLY happy when he's drunk. He's also nice to the heroine/you....but you can't really see that in the free prologue. D:
I can't say much about him because his route isn't out yet. :[ But from the description, he's "friendly and determined". :3

Morgan: TOO OLD. HE HAS A GOATEE. NOT INTERESTED AT ALL. He's the Captain of the ship. But I have to say, I think he's one of those characters that provide "comedic relief". Haha. His route isn't out yet. In honest opinion, he's a very...layback Captain? Like he isn't a super serious/scary captain. If he didn't show up, I would've thought Eduardo was the captain. Haha.

The Art:
AMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZIIIGGGGLY AWESOMEEEEEEE.
The guys are SUPER HOT, and the CGs are SOOOOOOOOOO PRETTY. :D

Overall:
This game has a lot of potential. I'm hoping the game producers will decrease the crashing problems and make the app run a little more smoothly. You have to admit, it's hard to enjoy a game when it's crashing every few minutes. However, the routes are really cute, sweet, heartwarming, etc. Besides the technical issues, I really like this game. ^^

Note:
-I haven't gotten all of Russell's and Nathan's CGs. I need one more for the both of them. D: I'm going to having to replay their routes and try to get the happy ending. (.____.)

EDIT: YAAAY. THEY FIXED IT NOW IT'S CRASH FREE ASDFJKFJDF AND I PLAYED EDUARDO'S ROUTE. SKDJKAJDK.
